Pizza Hut UK Ltd. Uses Motivation as a Tool for Productivity

INTRODUCTION
I have described some important factors to motivate employees in my report. According to Vroom’s theory “the employee effort will lead to performance and performance will lead to rewards” (Vroom, 1964). But some cases reward can be negative. But when it is positive employees more likely to be motivated, and when it is negative less likely employees to be motivated. This case study approach is a very useful research methodology for “raising questions, highlighting issues, developing and testing theory, and providing guidance in solving problems” (Cooper, Morgan 2008, p. 161).
In Short, motivation defined as “an inner drive that reflects goal-oriented arousal” (Arnould et. al., 2004:259).
Just assume a situation if we take water to the horse and want he drinks, he will drink only if it is thirsty but we cannot force it to drink. On the other hand, if it is a human being we can force even though the person doesn’t want. The force that will induce him to do something or not to do something is motivation. So it is about people. In my proposal I have applied motivation theories on Pizza Hut human resource. While Pizza Hut aim in this regard is to maintain ‘a well-trained workforce with a good balance of young and energetic people and background…’.
After this brief introduction now we can say that motivation is about staff and management and it was made clear from the very early days of the business that employees were to be co-owners of the enterprise, and should have an appropriate say in its direction and policies.
PURPOSE OF THIS RESEARCH
The purpose of my research process is to identify the result of motivation factor in Pizza Hut UK Limited in this competitive edge. In my research I mentioned that the growth of every company depend upon people. Like all other businesses in Pizza Hut there is a gap between an individual’s actual state and some desired state and managers try to reduce this gap. Motivation is, in effect, a means to reduce and manipulate this gap. Pizza Hut’s strategy is to motivated employees in a way to get the company’s overall objectives. Target setting and reward is the part of motivation system. It should be bear in mind good motivation system tailors according to the situation and align with company’s objectives.
MOTIVATION IN COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT
Earlier employees assumed to be mere form of inputs. But research changed this thought. From 1924 to 1932, Elton Mayo’s Hawthorne studies showed that “employees not only motivated solely by money and employee behaviour is linked to their attitude”.(Dickson, 1973).
