Once I have opened CES I get this window asking which level of information I would like to view
Once I have selected a level I would like to view it gives me access to the materials in that data base
To access the materials the user first has to pick which type of material they would like to view from the list.
Then another drop down menu comes down so the user has another choice of type of materials I have selected mineral in this menu and as you can see it has came down with the materials available
As you can see if I had clicked on level 3 (the more detailed database) I would have got a lot more choice than I did from level 1+2.
To get this window I double clicked on the specific material I wanted after I clicked on it, it displayed the detailed info I needed.

Then I want more information about a different material so I closed the ceramics menu and open the new (metal) menu.
Then I clicked on the material I wanted to find out more about and it displayed the detailed properties of the metal that I choose
Now instead of looking at materials in the materials universe we can also look at the different processes to shape the materials, to do this I went to the top and clicked on the table drop down menu then selected the process universe.
This window shows the process universe it gives a tree list of all of the shaping options to shape various materials i.e. casting, and rapid prototyping.
This is the detailed information that I retrieved from the CES data base about rapid prototyping
To get to rapid prototyping you click on the option that says rapid prototyping, and then it gives you a list of the different types of rapid prototyping
This slide show us the references from all of the information on the CES database (where all of the information came from)
In this slide it show that CES isn’t just for looking up various materials and processes it can also be used for to find different suppliers of the materials
below clicked on select instead of browse
This slide shows that you don’t have to go through all of the menus to get to a certain material you can just go straight to it.
Clicked on proccess universe at bottom (dotted box)
In this slide it shows that you can find a material in the materials universe click on the link shown and get all of the processes available for that particular material.
In this slide it shows that you can find a certain material and find all of the reference material used to create the insert ...
