INTRODUCTION
James Mc Gregor Burns who developed the transformational leadership was first in 1978 and later extended by Bernard Bass. Every manager must have the role in leadership at his work. Managers often make mistake of assuming that they are the leaders and that their associates must follow them. In real life the position denotes about the title but not exactly what the leadership is. To become an effective leader, manager should influence his associates in positive way for the successful goals of the organization.
TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP
The transformational leadership inspires intellectually simulates, and is individually considerate of them and may be directive or participative. Transformational leadership is a process that transforms individuals hence a transformational leader can make the company more successful by maintaining the perfect team. “Transformational leaders do things that change the organization”.
According to Bass transformational leadership is based on four components
1)Idealized Influence describes managers as role models for the team. These type of managers can be trusted by team members to make the right decisions for the organization.
2)Inspirational Motivation describes managers who motivate the associates for better vision of the organization. Managers encourage team to reach goals according to the revenue and market growth for the organization.
3)Intellectual Stimulation describes managers who simulates the associates intellectually and encourages their views. Managers with this intellectual stimulation they can promote the critical thinking and also problem solving to make a better organization.
4)Individual Consideration describes managers who advises the team and they also encourage the team in all aspects to reach goals of the organization.
Personality Attributes
Bass states that Transformational leadership qualities are affected by individuals childhood experience. Future, he reports research showing that Transformational leader typically report their parents as being caring and setting challenging transformational leadership exhibit specific personality attributes (Atwater & Yammarino, 1993; Dubinsky, Yammarino & Jolson, 1995;Ross & Offermann, 1997).
For example: Ross and Offermann (1997) demonstrated that high scores on transformational leadership were associated with a pattern of personality including high levels of pragmatism, feminine attributes, self confidence and low levels of criticalness and aggressiveness.
